Kid Cudi recently responded to a fan on social media asking about the status of his promised collab project with Travis Scott, tentatively titled The Scotts, to say "Let's move on."
Hype for the project began after the release of "The Scotts" single in 2020. Promotion for the song was massive, including a major spot in Travis Scott's famous Fortnite concert, and resulted in the song debuting at number one, Kid Cudi's first and only Billboard-topping single.
In the years following "The Scotts" single, both Cudi and Scott teased their collab project before Cudi said the moment had "passed" for its release, before circling back around to say the project was "def happening at some point" following the release of Travis Scott's Utopia, which featured a new collaboration between the two artists, "Looove."
So now the on-again-off-again relationship of The Scotts has circled back around to "off" with Kid Cudi writing the "ship came and went" concerning the project.
Considering the volatile nature of this project's existence, or perhaps just the volatile nature of Cudi's tweeting patterns, hopes for The Scotts may not be entirely dead in the water. There's certainly no reason to believe the two artists won't collaborate again after a long history of songs like "Through the Late Night," "Baptized in Fire," and "At The Party."
