Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband Brandon Blackstock pronounced dead after singer's cancellation of Vegas residency

Yesterday, singer and talk show host Kelly Clarkson announced she would be indefinitely postponing her scheduled Las Vegas residency due to an urgent family matter. Today, it has been revealed that Brandon Blackstock, the "Since U Been Gone" singer's ex-husband has died at 48.

Blackstone is the father of Clarkson's two children, River (11) and Remington (9). A statement initially reported by People states,

"It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time."

Blackstock and Clarkson met through Blackstock's father, Narvel, who was Clarkson's manager. Brandon eventually took over that role in 2013 shortly after the pair got married and remained as such following their divorce in 2020.

Blackstock is survived by his sons Seth and Remington, daughters Savannah and River, grandson Lake, father Narvel Blackstock and siblings Shelby, Shawna and Chassidy.
