Keion White of the 49ers has been shot following an argument with Lil Baby

Lil Baby, born Dominique Jones, was in San Francisco on Sunday night for a performance, according to an event listing, but the night spiraled well beyond the stage lights.

An altercation reportedly broke out inside a San Francisco nightclub when members of Lil Baby's entourage attempted to access a private event happening on a different floor. That confrontation would soon turn violent. A witness told The San Francisco Standard they heard multiple gunshots, later finding San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Keion White suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg.

White was shot in the ankle early Monday morning and underwent surgery later that evening, ESPN’s Nick Wagoner reported. Multiple outlets say the injury is not life-threatening, and White is expected to make a full recovery.

According to The Standard, White declined to cooperate with police when asked who shot him. The San Francisco Police Department confirmed an investigation is underway, stating that a verbal dispute between two groups escalated inside the nightclub before shots were fired by an unknown suspect.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported that White was at the nightclub after attending Super Bowl 60 earlier that night. White himself posted Instagram photos showing he had been at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara for the game.

In a post on X, San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie wrote:

"Any violent incident in our city is unacceptable, and I'm hoping Keion recovers quickly. I've spoken with SFPD and 49ers leadership- we are all grateful to our SFPD officers for their quick response. As always, I will continue working with San Francisco law enforcement to ensure our neighborhoods and our residents are safe."

White, 27, was traded to the 49ers from the New England Patriots on Oct. 29 this past season. A second-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, he recorded 12 tackles and 1.5 sacks across nine games with San Francisco.
