Say it ain't so. Actor Keanu Reeves will star as the villain in Weezer's new movie. Per Jeff Sneider of The InSneider, the film has been described as a mix between Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. Sneider also reports that it's a “concert movie that doubles as a mockumentary.”
At Coachella last weekend, Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo announced that the film is real, and the band has been busy filming it in LA. The movie will reportedly be about a rivalry between Weezer and Reeves's band Dogstar. Reeves plays bass for the band. The movie will also feature Eric Andre, Johnny Knoxville, Juliette Lewis and Ben Scwartz, who will all appear as themselves.
According to Sneider, Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman will be directing the film, who also directed Paranormal Activity 3 and 4.

Weezer and Dogstar actually have history together dating back to the early 90s. Weezer played their first show by opening for Dogstar back in 1992. They reunited at the Lodge Room in 2024 and played another show together. More details are still to come for the film.
