One half of Los Thuthanaka (the Bolivian-American experimental sibling duo), Joshua Chuquimia Crampton is now announcing a new solo record, Anata. It's coming out on February 6th and it's self-released.
"Ch'uwanchaña ~El Golpe Final~", the new album's first single, is out now. It is an abrasive track, with Crampton's characteristic unorthodox guitar playing. Listen to it below:
According to its description on Bandcamp, Anata is inspired by the Andean ceremony of the same name, "where we celebrate the Pachamama (Mother Earth) before the rainy season, giving thanks for harvest with offerings & the principle of reciprocity (Ayni) between humans/nature."
Along with his sibling, musician Chuquimamani-Condori, Crampton released one of the most celebrated albums of 2025, Los Thuthanaka. Despite not being available on streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, the duo's debut record was deemed one of the best of last year by several publications, such as Pitchfork and The WIRE.
On Anata, which is composed, performed and recorded entirely by the artist, he plays electric guitar, bass, and Andean instruments like charango, roncoco, and bombo italaque. It's the musician's sixth solo album.
