John Legend is entering a new chapter in his musical career. The EGOT winner announced that his upcoming album, Muse, will be entirely produced by musical titan Pharrell Williams. The record is set to be released via Republic Records on October 23.

Legend premiered the lead single, "Daylight," with a performance on CBS's America's Tailgate the night before its official release. The track is now available on all streaming platforms:

The two artists collaborated last year on Clipse's Grammy-nominated rap album, Let God Sort Em Out, which Pharrell produced in full. Legend appeared on the emotional opening track, “The Birds Don’t Sing.”

While discussing the inspiration behind Muse, Legend had this to say:

“There are plenty of artists who get to a point in their career where they don’t make anything new. We can just play the hits; we can stay in our comfort zone. But I believe it’s important to keep the mindset that I have to continue to prove myself. I wanted this album to have that sense of urgency — to feel like something that needed to be made and is fully worthy of my audience’s attention"

Pharrell will continue his prolific run with Quavo's upcoming album, QRÖME LIFE, out on October 2. Pusha T's upcoming solo album is reportedly finished as well, and it too was entirely produced by Pharrell.

This newfound energy for both Legend and Pharrell could lead to a truly special album. Both artists have each sustained critical and commercial success decades into their careers, and now they get to break new ground together.
