The Bada$$ strikes back.
Less than 24 hours after TDE rapper Ray Vaughn released his diss, “Hoe Era”, New York rapper Joey Bada$$ replied with his new track, “THE FINALS”. Vaughn dropped “Hoe Era” a day after Bada$$ released his Red Bull Spiral Freestyle, alongside Big Sean and Ab-Soul. In that freestyle, Bada$$ addressed Vaughn for the first time, who had dissed him back in January with the track “Crashout Heritage”.
While Bada$$ only mentioned Vaughn in passing on his Red Bull Freestyle, Bada$$ also stated, “could never hate the West Coast, but since [they] comin’ for Joe, f**k it then, let’s go”. Vaughn immediately took the opportunity to lay into Bada$$ on “Hoe Era”, telling the rapper to “act more, rap less” and “You washed, you ain’t carryin’ no torch / You let Ice Spice turn into the king of New York”.
In his new track, “THE FINALS”, Bada$$ mocks Vaughn’s success stemming from being signed to TDE (“You known for your label, not because your art official”); claims that Vaughn only gets attention from beefing with him (“Sound for five years, yet your biggest moment from me”); and also claims that Vaughn’s success is artificial (“Can’t nobody name a single song you ever released / Even ‘Crashout’ wasn’t your original beat.")
Bada$$ ends the track calling out to Kendrick Lamar, inviting the Compton rapper to the beef: “I salute you Kenny but I know you well aware / You lookin’ for some competition? Then just know that I’ll be right here."
