Joanna Sternberg shares their new song "A Country Dance"

The day after their birthday, singer-songwriter Joanna Sternberg has released the evocative, warm-hearted "A Country Dance", the third standalone single after breakthrough album I've Got Me. Listen to the song below:

"A Country Dance", recorded upstate New York with Alex Wenquest, is Sternberg's sweet ode to their close friend Sami Bronowski, who was the first person to encourage them to sing in public. “The joke of the song is: I don't dance, I don't drink wine, I don't go outside and I DEFINITELY do not go out in nature (allergies and insect phobias)," they say of "A Country Dance". "But I wanted a playful nonsensical song to sing and to capture the fun I have with my dear pal.”

The song appears in Nathan Silver's forthcoming film Between The Temples, starring Jason Schwartzman and Carol Kane, which tells the story of a forty-something Jewish cantor losing his voice and possibly his faith. Joanna, about the track’s inclusion in the film, said: “I think the reason the song can fit in this beautiful film, is that it captures a freewheeling imaginative feeling. The lyrics are vague enough to be applied to anything, and it just creates a ‘fun and fancy-free’ mood!”

Joanna Sternberg is also set to play a handful of shows, starting August 30 at London's Grand Junction Church and ending September 24 in New York supporting The Babies' reunion show at Warsaw. See all the dates below.
