Continuing her celebrations of the 20th anniversary of her debut album as Joan As Police Woman, Joan Wasser has announced a full-length reimagining of the record for a June 12 release on Reveal Records. Recorded in the US, Turkey, and New Zealand, Real Life Evolution features guest vocals from Iggy Pop on “Save Me” and Krystle Warren on “I Defy”, originally a duet with Anohni back in 2006.
"Some transformations are subtle. Others are seismic. All of them were made with an entirely new cast of collaborators,” she says of the record. Other musicians appearing on the record include Will Graefe, Jeremy Gustin, Tony Scherr, Parker Kindred, Danny Blume, Oren Bloedow, and pianist Thomas Bartlett.

You can also catch the new arrangement of "Flushed Chest" performed live in the latest video in Wasser's ongoing The Real Life Anniversary Sessions series:
Says Wasser in a press release:
"I wrote 'Flushed Chest' shortly after I read “Time’s Arrow” by Martin Amis. It’s the story of a life, Jeff [Buckley]’s life, told in backwards chronological order. I wrote this one when I was in a period of intense listening to The Wailers; Bunny Wailer, Peter Tosh and Bob Marley, one of the greatest bands of all time. This song works well with the trio so we didn’t stray far from the original recording. Singing the 3-part harmonies with Will and Jeremy is a delight."
Wasser will also be out on tour in Europe in November, and has a couple shows in New York in June. Check those out below.
