Puerto Rican singer-rapper Jhay Cortez (a.k.a Jhayco) has revealed the tracklist from his upcoming album, LE CLIQUE: VIDA ROCKSTAR (X), out 6 September via Universal Music Group.
This is his first album since 2021's Timelezz, on which he collaborated with Skrillex, Myke Towers, Anuel AA, and more. This time, Jhayco features other big names, such as the young corridos tumbados star Peso Pluma, rapper Eladio Carrión, and DJ Khaled.
A few hours after the reveal, he uploaded a new trap-fueled single called "Grecia", produced by Smash David, Argel Beatz, Naoh Marin, and AIVEN. The new album also features production from four-time Latin GRAMMY winner and Jhayco's friend, Tainy.
For this forthcoming record, he has divided the 29-song tracklist into three different phases. The first two are named after roman numerals; the third one is labeled "X". Phase I and II start with a song that references the album title: one is "Vida Rockstar (Rockstar Life)", the other "Le Clique". Phase X kicks off with "3D", which came out a month ago.
Jhayco delved into the impact and concept of this new album cycle in an instagram post when he first announced LCVRX:
"This marks a new stage not only for my career but in your lives as well, because you’re not my fans, you're my family. There’s been many ups and downs but what has always kept me energized to continue were all of you, the commitment that I have with my ROCKSTAR’z, and my music."
"Remember that... ’Le Clique’ It’s the family, and that ‘Vida Rockstar’ is The Movement, also that I’M NOT ORDINARY, I’M A ROCKSTAR!”
In an interview with Héctor Eli on El Flowcast, he further explains:
"Being a rockstar isn't just the perception that people have of ‘doing drugs or being the craziest’, I think being a rockstar is being someone that has the guts to take control on whatever they want to do. Being able to party as well as getting up for work. [...] Someone who sets goals and achieves them. Who does whatever they want with their life and don’t care about criticism or what people say about them, that they are confident in themselves: that’s being a Rockstar.”
