Two years on from her Polaris Music Prize-nominated second album Yessie, Canadian singer/songwriter and bestselling poet Jessie Reyez continues to expand her sound with Lil Wayne-featuring new single, "RIDIN". This one has real bite, finding Reyez and Lil Wayne trading bold demands and lustful double entendres over a surprisingly rocky backdrop, which eventually falls away as it's seemingly revealed to all have been a fantasy about a man that Reyez can't have.
Writing on her Instagram last week, Reyez hinted at the reason for the twist, saying:
"U ever make a whole love story in ur head when u realize ur drivin next to someone hot? Like at the red light u c them in their car. U keep it moving and u switch lanes but u notice that they’re sorta keeping up with u? I had someone yell out their number at me once when I lived in Florida. I missed a digit. Oh what could’ve been."

"RIDIN" is Reyez's second single of the year, following the swaggering "SHUT UP", which features a slightly menacing turn by rapper Big Sean and a double-take cameo from JoJo – and Reyez's mom – in the video.
According to the press release for "RIDIN", there will be further singles coming later this year and into early 2025. In the meantime, Reyez is heading to Australia in New Zealand for a short run of shows, calling at:
09/25 Northcote, Australia @ Northcote Theatre
10/03 Auckland, New Zealand @ Turning Fork Spark Arena
10/08 Sydney, Australia @ Metro Theatre
10/10 Woolloongabba, Australia @ The Princess Theatre
