Jay-Z has been accused of raping a 13-year old girl in 2000 along with disgraced rapper and record executive Sean 'Diddy' Combs. Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, has denied all allegations. The lawsuit, which was originally filed against Combs in October this year, was refiled on Sunday, 8th December to include Carter as well.
The anonymous victim, identified only as Jane Doe, alleges that she was approached by a limousine driver outside the 2000 MTV VMAs, who told her she "fit what Diddy was looking for." Later on that evening, she was driven to an afterparty in a house 20 minutes away from Radio City Music Hall in New York, where the awards ceremony was occurring.
After signing a document which she believed to be a non-disclosure agreement, the victim alleges she was given a drink that made her "woozy, lightheaded" and "felt she needed to lie down." Afterwards, Carter, Combs, and another anonymous female celebrity entered, saying she was "ready to party."
She alleges she was held down by Carter as he removed her clothes and raped her, before Combs attempted to force her into oral sex. Combs has repeatedly denied all allegations against him thus far, including this one, calling it a "shameless publicity stunt" and "extortion." Carter has released a statement describing the allegations as a "heinous... blackmail attempt."
The lawsuit is handled by Tony Buzbee, the lawyer representing more than 50 plaintiffs in suits against Combs. Quinn Emanuel, a lawyer who has previously represented Jay-Z, filed a lawsuit against Buzbee last month, alleging extortion of an anonymous celebrity client.
