Punk icons Ian MacKaye and Henry Rollins – as known for their vocal demolition as they are for their documentary appearances – have teamed up to record four new songs.
The pair met at Washington, D.C.'s Inner Ear Studios (a hotbed of the D.C. hardcore scene) a few weeks ago. Rollins, of Black Flag and Rollins Band fame, revealed on his website that "a four song session with the great Don Zientara at the board" got mixed.
"I had [the tracks] mastered several days ago, and I'm now working on the layout and design for the record. When it's ready, I'll let you know ... We are extremely excited by this one," Rollins concluded.
What makes this project remarkable is the fact that Rollins hasn't been making music for around two decades at this point. Unlike MacKaye, who has been producing music since his band Fugazi shut up shop in 2003, Rollins has been getting his kicks in the world of spoken word. Will he go the monologue route on this new material? Who knows...
What do you think?
