Former Disney Channel star and current multi-hyphenate Hilary Duff returned to music today, with the release of her first single in a decade, "Mature".
The soft-pop track features production credits from Duff's husband, Matthew Koma. Watch the video here:
Duff is best known for her role as the eponymous character in the Disney Channel comedy Lizzie McGuire. During her time on the show, she began releasing music. Her best performing album was 2003's Metamorphosis, which was certified four times platinum.
She stepped away from the pop world after the release of her 2015 album, Breathe In. Breathe Out. The album debuted at #5 on the Billboard Top 200, her fifth consecutive top five debut. In the meantime, she's starred in Darren Star's serirs Younger, produced and starred in How I Met Your Father, attempted to steer a Lizzie McGuire revival, and began designing clothing for children.
She announced her return to music in September, when she signed to Atlantic Records.
"I always knew I was going to return to music," she said in an interview with Variety's Marc Malkin last month. "I needed to feel safe and I needed to have the right people in my corner and be absolutely 100% ready. Honestly, I needed to have 10 years of life under my belt."
Duff is also working on a docuseries with Sam Wrench, who previously directed on “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” and “A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter.” The series, which does not have a release date set as of this writing, is set to follow Duff's experience of returning to music and preparing to tour.
She has yet to announce an album or release date for future projects.
