Hannah Frances announces new LP 'Nested in Tangles', shares first single

Singer-songwriter, guitarist, and poet Hannah Frances has officially announced a new album. Nested in Tangles, her fourth record, is out October 10 via Fire Talk.

With the news comes first single, "Surviving You", which arrives with a video filmed by Derrick Alexander, colored and edited by Vanessa Castro, and directed by Frances. Watch/listen below:

Of the new song, Frances had this to say:

"‘Survivng You’ is a reflection on the ways generational trauma can repeat itself when unexamined, and the ways we learn to protect ourselves through necessity. It's a personal account of receiving harm from people who have projected their own pain onto me, who refuse to see themselves or take accountability for the impact of their actions. I was reckoning with my rage, and recognizing how much I've lived in survival mode for the majority of my life. This is for anyone who grew up in a turbulent and harmful home and is learning to affirm their lived experience.”

The LP is a pretty quick followup to her acclaimed 2024 record, Keeper of the Shepherd, and was written right after completing work on that album. Nested in Tangles sees Frances working again with longtime collaborator Kevin Copeland; various string, horn, and wind players; as well as Sarah Clauson (who appears in the video for "Surviving You" and plays sax and bass clarinet on the song). It also features Daniel Rossen of Grizzly Bear, who produced and arranged two songs.

Frances will head out on a headlining tour this summer and fall in support of the record, with a lengthy UK and European run (which includes dates supporting Florist) starting this week and a North American set beginning in Washington DC in November. Find all dates below.
