Hamilton Leithauser, frontman for New York rock outfit The Walkmen, has announced his latest solo LP, This Side of the Island. It will be released March 7 via Glassnote Records.
The album’s first single, “Knockin’ Heart” dropped right alongside the news - check out the video for it right here:
According to an Instagram update posted Wednesday, the album was written, recorded, and produced by Leithauser at his home studio alongside his wife, Anna Stumpf. Producer and songwriter Aaron Dessner also produced seven songs at Long Pond Studios in upstate New York, and provided creative support all throughout the album's eight-year long development.
Leithauser describes the first single, "Knockin' Heart", as "an estranged, stoned lover dying to get a message through to someone who is probably not listening". The upcoming album follows up his last solo work, 2020's The Loves of Your Life. In 2023, Leithauser reunited with The Walkmen for a string of reunion shows, kickstarted by a performance of "The Rat" on the The Late Show with Stephen Colbert - the band's first show after a ten-year hiatus.
Also announced via Instagram were performance dates for Leithauser's yearly residency at Cafe Carlyle. The cabaret event - returning for its seventh run in NYC's Upper East Side - goes from March 6 through March 29, 2025 and promises "surprise guests and special performances".
This Side of the Island is out on March 7, 2025 via Glassnote Records. Physical copies (vinyl, CD, and tape cassette) can be pre-ordered through Leithauser's official store, and pre-saved now on your preferred streaming service.
