Haley Heynderickx broke a long silence back in July with a new single, "Seed of a Seed". As it turns out, that's also the title of her upcoming album, announced today for a 1 November digital release via Mama Bird Recording Co., with a physical release on 6 December.
Seed of a Seed arrives a full six years after the Portland, OR singer/songwriter's understated debut, I Need to Start a Garden, and was recorded with what she describes as a "core jazz boy band". Daniel Mendoza returns on trombone, with drummer Daniel Rossi and bassist Matthew Holmes making up the rest of the group. Additional musicians on the album include electric guitarist William Seiji Marsh and cellist Caleigh Drane.
New single "Foxglove", out today, is a song of yearning for an easy life and being at one with nature. Writing in a press release, Heynderickx says:
“‘Foxglove’ is my daydream tune craving a slower and simpler pace of life. Sometimes it all feels so far away – living in a city being so removed from a life entwined with nature.”
