Greg Mendez announces new album, shares lead single and tour dates

Today, Philadelphia singer-songwriter Greg Mendez has announced his sixth album Beauty Land, due out May 29th via Dead Oceans. It's his debut for the label that's launched indie stars in Mitski, Phoebe Bridgers, and Wednesday over the past several years.

With this announcement comes lead single "I Wanna Feel Pretty". The video, shot on 35mm, evokes the oblique and uncanny nature of suburbia. Watch below:

Of the video, Mendez shares,

“I spent most of my childhood in the suburbs, surrounded by the American Dream. Grand and lonely, strip malls and housing developments. Cathedrals of consumerism and reconstituted culture. The stores weren’t built for the towns, the towns were built for the stores. No one really belongs. The dream is close enough to smell but as soon as you reach out, your hand passes right through - a hologram of a promise. I hoped this video would feel like that.”

Beauty Land follows up Mendez's breakthrough 2023 self-titled record. Despite the potential budget increase of a label like Dead Oceans, he recorded the whole thing directly to tape in his makeshift home studio.

Mendez has also announced a North American tour supporting this record, spanning June to late August. The midwest and east coast dates will feature support from Scarlet Rae, while the west coast dates will feature Maria BC. See the full list of dates below.
