On 5 December – what would have been Mark Lanegan's 60th birthday – many of his friends and collaborators will gather together at London's Roundhouse for a special tribute show.
Names announced so far for the one-night-only event include Greg Dulli, Dave Gahan, Chrissie Hynde, Bobby Gillespie, Alison Mosshart, Josh Homme, and Duke Garwood, with the promise of some "very special guests." Soulsavers, who released two albums with Lanegan and recorded their own version of his "Kingdoms of Rain", will act as the house band for the evening.
Lanegan passed away in February 2022, aged 57, making his show at The Roundhouse in December 2019 his final live appearance in London. The tribute concert is presented by Kilimanjaro Live in conjunction with Lanegan's family and The Mark Lanegan Foundation. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Tuesday (1 October).
As Greg Dulli says in a press release, "What a wonderful night this will be. Singing his songs and sharing stories of our dear friend in a much-deserved celebration of his life and music."
In related news, Isobel Campbell recently announced a 10th anniversary reissue of the Mercury Prize-nominated Ballad of the Broken Seas, the first of three albums she and Lanegan worked on and toured together before his death.
