Gorillaz are back with their new single “Damascus”, taken from their forthcoming ninth album The Mountain, out February 27th. The track features Syrian singer Omar Souleyman and Brooklyn rapper/actor Yasiin Bey (formerly Mos Def), and it delivers peak Gorillaz energy: a collision of instrumentals, Arabic-influenced hip-hop, and Damon Albarn’s unmistakable sonic world-building. The result is a sound that feels entirely its own — uniquely, unmistakably Gorillaz.

“Damascus” was previously previewed during Gorillaz’s London House of Kong exhibit, as well as at their September mystery show where the band performed The Mountain in full.
