Gorillaz hint at new music during upcoming “mystery” show

Gorillaz creators Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett have been busy curating a museum-like exhibition called House of Kong, celebrating the band’s history, organizing back-to-back full album shows for their 25th anniversary, and by their own hints, working on a new album.

That last point was all but confirmed in a recent Channel 4 News interview. When asked about the fourth night in their run of full album shows, labeled simply as a “mystery show,” Albarn explained:

“We’re playing first album, second album, and third album, and then the fourth one is a mystery.”

Interviewer Krishnan Guru-Murthy followed up, asking if the mystery set might include new music. Albarn replied:

“There might. I mean, yes. In that sense, yeah.”

Hewlett then made a throat-cutting gesture in true Murdoc fashion. Both Albarn and Hewlett have previously hinted at a 2025 Gorillaz album, so this “mystery” performance could very well mark the start of its rollout.
