The Manchester trio GoGo Penguin have announced their latest record, Necessary Fictions – their first album since 2023's Everything is Going to Be OK – which is out June 20 via XXIM/Sony.

The band also share the album's first single titled "Fallowfield Loops". Watch the video below:

GoGo Penguin (pianist Chris Illingworth, bassist Nick Blacka and drummer Jon Scott) explain that Necessary Fictions is an album about internal searching, digging deep to find “what we think are our integral, authentic qualities at this moment in time," says Blacka.

Illingworth explains that they are already thinking about the future and are confident and excited about what to create next. “I was very aware of smiling a lot in the studio while we were making it,” says Illingworth, “and I’m smiling now just thinking about it. I hope that energy translates to people”.
