Gnarls Barkley announce farewell album 'Atlanta', share new single “Pictures”

Gnarls Barkley are back. After nearly two decades of silence, the Atlanta-bred partnership between CeeLo Green and Danger Mouse has announced its long-promised third and final album, Atlanta, arriving March 6th via 10k Projects and Atlantic Records.

Yes – final. Some chapters close because they have to. Others close because they’re finally complete.

To mark the occasion, the duo has shared “Pictures”, their first new music together in 18 years. Listen:

The 13-track Atlanta follows 2008’s The Odd Couple, a record that quietly deepened their catalog beyond the shadow of “Crazy”. According to the official line, a third album was always part of the plan. Real life, careers, families, and side quests simply got in the way. They reconnected last year and decided it was time to finish what they started.

“The spirit of Gnarls Barkley is always self-discovery,” Green said in a statement. “The sweet, the sad, and the strange. The universe, the adventure inside of yourself.”

In the years since The Odd Couple, both men have stayed busy, if not exactly idle. Green – who had some legal troubles involving sexual assault back in the early 2010s – dropped four solo records ,and reunited with Goodie Mob for two albums, while Danger Mouse built a second act as one of the most in-demand producers of his generation. He formed Broken Bells with James Mercer of The Shins, and crafted records for artists like Norah Jones and Karen O.

If Atlanta is truly the final chapter, at least they’re ending where they began: at home, in motion, chasing the strange.

Atlanta is out March 6th via 10k Projects/Atlantic Records. Pre-order here.
