Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl recently ignited excitement with a candid onstage reveal, hinting that the band may have already completed an entire new batch of songs, potentially the follow-up to 2023’s But Here We Are. Meanwhile, the band has transformed their website into a collage of images accompanied by audio snippets that appear to be previews of the upcoming release.
From the scattered previews, the band’s forthcoming 12th studio effort sounds anything but restrained. One clip captures Grohl in raw form, howling a jagged refrain “Decide, decide, decide / Do I, do I, do I” before crashing drums bring the track to life. Nearby, another snippet leans into a buoyant, pop-infused groove, complete with a wordless hook that feels unmistakably Foo Fighters. Elsewhere, Grohl chants “turn the cameras on” over a steadily intensifying rhythm, while another mid-tempo cut finds him repeating “unconditional, it’s unconditional” atop a driving beat. A poster in the background, emblazoned with the phrase “Do you want more???,” may even be hinting at a potential album title.
A snapshot featuring new drummer Ilan Rubin teases another rocker, though its lyrics remain under wraps. Rubin’s presence is further emphasized in a separate clip that showcases his relentless, high-octane playing over slashing guitar lines. In contrast, a quieter moment surfaces in a brief excerpt where Grohl sings, “Lately I don’t hear a sound,” riding a subdued, mid-tempo groove.
Sharp-eyed fans will also notice a subtle, emotional nod to late drummer Taylor Hawkins. Tucked into the corner is his signature hawk emblem, which transforms from stark black into vibrant color when clicked, a quiet but powerful tribute to Hawkins, who passed away in 2022 while the band was on tour in Colombia.
These teasers follow a series of enigmatic social media drops earlier in the week, including a rapid-fire montage of new material paired with the phrase “of a broken broadcast system,” and another high-energy mix labeled simply, “this is just a test.”
If these previews are any indication, there is something big coming for Foo fans.
