Flowertown, Chime School, and more contribute to new Cleaners From Venus tribute

Oakland's Dandy Boy Records have put together a new tribute to prolific British singer/songwriter and "godfather of indie-pop" Martin Newell and his cult band-turned-solo-project The Cleaners from Venus. With more than 40 albums to choose from – the most recent, Lilli Bolero, came out just last week – there was no shortage of material for contributing artists to choose from.

Out 27 September, Tales of a Kitchen Porter features 15 new home recordings by artists like Flowertown (aka Karina Gill of Cindy and Michael Ramos of Tony Jay), Chime School, and Yea-Ming Chen, who teams up with members of Chime School, The 1981, and The Goods – collectively known as The Gloomers – for the lead track "Night Starvation", which originally featured on the 1982 Cleaners From Venus album On Any Normal Monday.
