21 years after its initial release, "Helena", the second single from My Chemical Romance's Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, has achieved 4x platinum certification. It reached the milestone less than a week after the New Jersey emo group announced they would deliver a deluxe edition of Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge in June.
"Helena" is often regarded as one of, if not the best, songs in My Chemical Romance's catalog. It regularly closes their live shows, including their headlining performance at last year's When We Were Young Festival.
Although "Helena" was not the first single from Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, it's largely credited with propelling My Chemical Romance to commercial success. It peaked at number 33 on the Billboard Hot 100 whereas the single preceding it, "I'm Not Okay," only made it to number 86.
Both tracks will appear on the deluxe edition of Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, slated for release on June 6 through Relapse Records. This release will feature live recordings of the two singles, "The Ghost of You", and "You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison", captured in 2005.
Additionally, the deluxe edition features an updated mix of the entire album courtesy of Rich Costey, the prolific mixer and engineer who mixed Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge's original version.
