Houston, TX punk-ska outfit Escape From The Zoo recently announced a tour that was supposed to kick off this past Sunday, 8/24, in Oklahoma City. On that day, the band dropped a new tour announcement image on their social media, one that fans immediately accused of being AI-generated.
The artwork in question? A gorilla, a giraffe, a penguin, a porcupine, and a tiger, all in studded leather jackets and rocking mohawks. As U.S. Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart once famously said about pornography in 1964, "I know it when I see it." The same could be said about AI art…there's just something off that makes it a dead giveaway.
Backlash to the image came quickly, followed by the cancellation of the 8/24 show. Now the band has announced that the entire tour is off, which presumably includes their 8/29 set at Muddy Roots Fest. Fans have expressed concern for band founder Jesse Sendejas, who has publicly battled with sobriety in the past. On Facebook, the band explained that the cancelations are due to health reasons.
