Elton John is feeling positive and "slowly recovering" after eye infection left him partially blinded

Legendary singer, songwriter, and pianist Elton John revealed via Instagram that he is "slowly recovering" after dealing with a "severe" eye infection.

“Over the summer, I’ve been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye," the 77-year-old singer said in his Instagram post.

“I am healing, but it’s an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye. I am so grateful for the excellent team of doctors and nurses and my family, who have taken such good care of me over the last several weeks."

Fans across the globe flocked to the post to show their support. Various stars left comments wishing all their best to the iconic artist, including Chappell Roan, Donnatella Versace, Natalie Imbruglia, and Billy Porter - to name a few.

Chappell Roan commented, "We love you ❤️‍🩹"

Donnatella Versace commented, "Sending you so much love Elton! Feel better soon. Love you ❤️❤️❤️"

Thankfully things seem to be on an uptick for John. “I have been quietly spending the summer recuperating at home, and am feeling positive about the progress I have made in my healing and recovery so far.”

Last year, John had suffered a fall in his home and was taken to the hospital for cautionary reasons. John finished his farewell tour in July of last year and has decided to put his touring days behind him. “It’s time to come off the road so I can fully embrace the next important chapter of my life. I need to dedicate more time to raising my children,” the singer said in an interview back in 2018.

The farewell tour was initially paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was then resumed at a later date. With the tour out of the way, John can now take the time he needs to rest and heal.

'Elton John: Never Too Late', a documentary about the singer's life as well as his "Farewell Yellow Brick Road" tour is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6, and will release on Disney+ on December 13.

The film takes its name from the song John had written for the "live-action" remake of The Lion King. Listen to "Never Too Late" below.
