New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft announced that Ed Sheeran asked him to match a $2 million donation to combat the ongoing crisis.

In a statement published by Robert Kraft, he says "I have dedicated much of my life to building bridges between all people. I believe deeply that all lives are worth protecting." The statement goes on to mention:

"In addition, I'd like the people who are speaking in support of the Palestinian people to know that for decades, I have supported efforts that create opportunity for Palestinians and have brought young Palestinians and Israelis together to build businesses, create jobs, and forge relationships."

It's worth pointing out that Kraft's statement only pledges money to "the region," and never names Gaza specifically. Also according to the BBC, Sheeran has not publicly commented on donating money as of this writing. The BBC also reports that "Kraft did not confirm whether he has agreed to make the $2m donation and where the funds would go, and this is the first time it has been suggested Sheeran had donated that sum."

So, in other words, the jury's currently out on if this is actually happening or coming to fruition.

It is also worth pointing out that in 2022, The Kraft Group donated $1 million to the United Democracy Project, a superpac affiliated with the Israel lobby group AIPAC.

This is all, of course, in the wake of everybody but Ed dropping out of Ed's current tour, which itself was initiated by Macklemore being fired after making pro-Palestine comments onstage.
