Duster drop surprise new album, 'In Dreams'

Alan Pedder

Following their recent split single 7" with production duo Dirty Art Club, space rock revivalists Duster have surprise-released a new full-length album today.

In Dreams is the band's third studio album since reforming in 2018 after a lengthy hiatus, and their second for the iconic Numero Group label. The band also put out a compilation of four-track demos last year, salvaged from tapes dating back to the '90s.

In Dreams continues the heartwarming story of the band's TikTok-assisted resurgence in true Duster fashion, sticking closely to their signature slowcore formula but with just enough new tricks to qualify as a progression. Here, their atmospheric "music for earth–moon transit" is updated with a heavier emphasis on synths and drum machines, and it suits them well.

Out now digitally, the album arrives on vinyl on 6 December, with an exclusive 'Space Trash Splash' edition available only through the Numero Group website.

In Dreams tracklist:

1. Quiet Eyes
2. Aqua Tofana
3. No Feel
4. Starting to Fall
5. Close to Home
6. Isn't Over
7. Cosmotransporter
8. Black Lace
9. Space Trash
10. Baking Tapes
11. Like a Movie
12. Poltergeist
13. Anhedonia

Duster kick off an extensive US tour at the end of September, with support from Dirty Art Club.

Since sharing the original list of dates, the following shows have been added:

10/01 Hamden, CT @ Space Ballroom
10/08 Grand Rapids, MI @ The Pyramid Scheme
11/16 Bellingham, WA @ The Shakedown

Duster will also play Dia De Los Deftones in San Diego, CA, on 2 November.
