Dua Lipa fires her European agent over Kneecap petition

Dua Lipa has fired her European agent, David Levy, after learning that he signed a petition asking for pro-Palestinian Irish hip-hop group, Kneecap to be removed from this year's Glastonbury Festival.

“Dua made sure through her people that David Levy wasn’t working on her music any more," a source told The Daily Mail. "She is very openly pro-Palestine and that doesn’t align with David. She views him as being a supporter of Israel’s war in Gaza, and the terrible treatment of the Palestinians and that was made very clear through the letter that he signed and sent to [festival founder] Michael Eavis.”

The British festival, which took place this past June, became the source of much controversy and debate after it announced Kneecap as part of their lineup. The rap trio had been under fire recently for making pro-Palestinian statements that some perceived as being pro-Hamas.

In response, several music industry professionals, including Levy, signed a letter to the Michael Eavis urging him to remove the group from the lineup. However, this letter was eventually leaked and denounced, and Kneecap went on to perform at the festival.

This is not the first time Dua Lipa has made clear her feelings regarding the Israeli-Palestinian War. In a 2024 interview with Rolling Stone, Dua Lipa wished for a “humanitarian cease-fire”:

"At the moment, what we have to look at is how many lives have been lost in Gaza, and the innocent civilians, and the lives that are just being lost. There are just not enough world leaders that are taking a stand and speaking up about the humanitarian crisis that’s happening, the humanitarian cease-fire that has to happen.”

She went on to say that she “feel[s] so bad for every Israeli life lost and what happened on October 7th.”

Levy has yet to make a public statement regarding his being let go.

Kneecap has received no shortage of backlash in response to their pro-Palestinian stance. Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh, who performs with the group under the name Mo Chara, was charged with a terror offense after a video was released of him allegedly displaying the flag of Hezbollah at a London show. The group released a statement saying they have never supported Hamas or Hezbollah and that the video in question was taken out of context.

The case has been adjourned to the end of this month.
