This year’s BRIT Awards will close on Saturday, Feb. 28, with a full-tilt tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, alongside the presentation of a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award. The man who once bit the head off a bat and rewrote the rules of frontmanship died in July at 76.
Fittingly, it’ll be Robbie Williams stepping into the spotlight to lead a reimagined take on “No More Tears”, the title track from Ozzy’s 1991 solo peak. The performance will be built from the bones of Ozzy’s own legacy: Adam Wakeman, Robert Trujillo, Tommy Clufetos, and Zakk Wylde, players who helped keep the engine roaring through different eras of his solo years. The entire segment has been overseen by Sharon Osbourne, the architect and protector of Ozzy’s second act and beyond.
Ozzy once hosted the BRITs himself back in 2008, flanked by Sharon and their kids, Kelly and Jack.
At the Grammy Awards on Feb. 1, a heavy-duty supergroup (Post Malone, Duff McKagan, Slash, Chad Smith, and Andrew Watt) tore into “War Pigs”, the opener from Black Sabbath’s 1970 masterwork, Paranoid. The Recording Academy had previously honored Sabbath with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019, a nod to the band that effectively forged heavy metal in Birmingham’s industrial gloom.
Ozzy was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame twice, first with Black Sabbath in 2019, then as a solo artist in 2024. He collected five Grammy wins, earned a place in the UK Music Hall of Fame, and received the Ivor Novello Award for Lifetime Achievement (with Sabbath).
Stacey Tang, Chair of the 2026 BRIT Awards Committee and Co-President of RCA Records at Sony Music UK had this to say regarding Ozzy's legacy:
“Ozzy Osbourne has been a mighty force in modern music. Possessing an unmistakable voice and unique presence, he reshaped the sound and spirit of rock, inspiring generations of artists who followed. This Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes a remarkable legacy built on originality and enduring influence, that continues to connect with fans worldwide.”
