Doechii has uploaded the music video for “DENIAL IS A RIVER”, the fourth song off her breakout mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal, released via Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE).
The video introduces us to the Denial Is A River Show, which parodies the 1989 sitcom Family Matters, recreating its typograhy, visuals, and following similar tropes from the series.
The introspective track showcases the TDE artist’s storytelling skills, describing her backstory and the events that led to her current self, which they manage to successfully translate to the Carlos Acosta and James Mackel-directed video that you can watch below:
Prior to its premiere, the Denial Is A River Show was promoted with a trailer and some snippets – including a parody of the Mexican telenovela La Rosa de Guadalupe – featuring fellow TDE members ScHoolboy Q and SiR, as well as Zach Fox, Teezo Touchdown, Baby Tate, Rickey Thompson, H Wood, DJ Miss Milan, and a guest appearance by two-time Oscar winner Brad Pitt (actually Earl Sweatshirt, in case you hadn’t noticed.)
The Grammy-nominated rapper recently confirmed that she's working on a new album, which she promises will be released this year.
