Doechii will receive Billboard's Woman of the Year award for 2025 at the annual Billboard Women in Music event, continuing her recent series of victories. She is only the second rap artist to win this award, the first being Cardi B in 2020. Other recipients of this prestigious award include Karol G, Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, SZA, Madonna, Beyoncé, and Selena Gomez.
At Billboard's 2023 Women in Music event, Doechii won the Rising Star award, making her the third ever artist to follow that win with the Woman of the Year award--the two other artists being Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande.
“After receiving the Billboard Women in Music Rising Star Award in 2023, Doechii has quickly gained recognition in the music industry for her bold creativity and impressive talent,” said Hannah Karp, Billboard's editorial director, in a statement. “With her genre-blending sound, Doechii is redefining what it means to be a trailblazer in the music industry. We are honored to celebrate Doechii and cheer on her continued success!”
Doechii has seen an extraordinary series of wins recently--this particular win happening just a month after Doechii won the Grammy for Best Rap Album for her mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal, being only the third woman to win in that category. She spoke on this accomplishment in her award speech. “This category was introduced in 1989. Two women have won, Lauryn Hill--Three women have won. Lauryn Hill, Cardi B and Doechii.” Soon after, she was named outstanding new artist at the 2025 NAACP Image Awards.
Doechii will be honored at the Billboard Women in Music event taking place Saturday, March 29 at YouTube theater at Hollywood Park in Inglewood, CA and will be hosted by Laverne Cox. Other award recipients include aespa, Erykah Badu, Megan Trainor, Gracie Abrams, GloRILLA, JENNIE, Tyla, Megan Moroney, and Ángela Aguilar.
