Disgraced music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs has been transferred to federal prison to continue serving his 50-month sentence for engaging in prostitution, according to sources.
Rolling Stone is reporting that Combs was transferred to FCI Fort Dix, a low security prison camp in New Jersey that once housed "pharma bro" Martin Shkreli and cocaine smuggler George Jung.
The Bad Boys Records founder had been housed at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City for the majority of his time incarcerated. The Federal Bureau of Prison's website still shows Combs as an inmate at the prison, but that will likely change in the coming days.
The transfer comes after a judge sentenced Combs to 50 months in federal prison following his felonious conviction on two counts of transporting male escorts and ex-girlfriends across state lines for paid sex. He was acquitted of the more serious sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy charges.
The music mag is also reporting that his lawyer, Terry Geragos, filed a letter to the court October 6 asking U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian to recommend Combs to be assigned to FCI Fort Dix, which would allow the Diddler to "address drug abuse issues" and "maximize family visitation and rehabilitative efforts."
The move keeps Combs close to his New York-based legal team, roughly 80 miles away, as he seeks an expedited appeal of his conviction.
"Mr. Combs expects to challenge both his conviction and sentence in his appeal. An expedited briefing and argument schedule is critical to ensure that Mr. Combs's appeal of his sentence does not become moot while the appeal is pending," the filing says.
His projected release date is May 8, 2028, according to the BOP's website.
