Disgraced music mogul and general creep Sean "Diddy" Combs seemed to lack a strong argument in his ongoing trial being held in New York. On June 24th, his legal team concluded their defense in under half an hour, despite almost seven weeks of prosecution testimony preceding their stand.
Combs has pleaded not guilty in his sex trafficking trial to charges which include racketeering and transporting individuals to be prostituted. He opted out of testifying, telling the judge that "it's [his] decision with [his] lawyers."
His lawyer, Alexandra Shapiro, declared that, while Combs may have been "regrettably violent," "domestic violence is not sex trafficking."
Combs's defense did not call any witnesses to testify, merely relying on a few submitted text messages. These included exchanges between Combs and Cassie Ventura, his ex. For comparison, the prosecution called over 30 witnesses.
Closing arguments will be held from June 26th to 27th, and precede a verdict which could land Combs a life sentence behind bars.
