Dick Parry, saxophonist on iconic Pink Floyd albums, dies at 83

Dick Parry, known for his saxophone work with Pink Floyd, died at the age of 83 on May 22.

Responsible for the iconic sax on tunes such as "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" and "Money," Parry was an integral part to Floyd's biggest albums.

Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour broke the news in an Instagram post, noting that he had played with Parry in various ensembles since he was 17. Parry brought his sax to Pink Floyd tours from 1973 to '77, as well as during the Division Bell cycle in 1994. In addition, Parry played with the core Floyd quartet during their 2005 Live 8 reunion.

Beyond Pink Floyd, Parry toured with The Who and Gilmour as a solo artist. His session work includes contributions to material by the likes of Rory Gallagher and Who bassist John Entwistle.

No cause of death has been specified.
