A former vocalist for a prominent Texas death metal band is facing serious criminal charges following a deadly wrong-way crash in Dallas last year.

Ex-Devourment vocalist Mike Majewski, 50, was involved in a multi-vehicle crash on May 12, 2025, that left one person dead and several others seriously injured, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash began when a driver, later identified as Majewski, drove in the wrong direction on the Dallas North Tollway near Royal Lane in Dallas.

DPS reported that Majewski was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes when his vehicle sideswiped a tractor-trailer before colliding head-on with another passenger car. Both vehicles were engulfed in flames following the impact.

The passenger in the struck vehicle, Tra'Nia Jackson, 28, died at the scene. Five others, including Majewski, were transported to area hospitals with critical or serious injuries.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

Following Majewski's release from a hospital, Texas troopers arrested the vocalist Thursday and booked him into the Collin County Jail, where he remains jailed on bonds totaling $175,000.

He is charged with one count of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle and four counts of intoxication assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury.

Majewski performed on some of Devourment's most iconic albums, including 2005's Butcher the Weak and 2013's Relapse Records debut Conceived in Sewage. After his exit from Devourment in 2014, Majewski eventually joined Truth Devoid alongside Six Feet Under drummer Marco Pitruzzella.

Facing multiple felony charges, Majewski potentially faces between two and 20 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine if convicted.

The case remains under investigation, and a trial date has yet to be announced.
