Deradoorian shares new Giant Sand cover from upcoming tribute LP 'Sandworms'

The latest track to emerge from Fire Records' upcoming tribute LP to Howe Gelb and his long-running Giant Sand project is an Angel Deradoorian take on the title song from Giant Sand's 1992 album Center of the Universe. In place of the original's "desert-fried" rock, the former Dirty Projectors member takes the song in a spacey and hypnotic direction.

Listen below:

Out on 15 August, Sandworms: The Songs of Howe Gelb and Giant Sand offers a 10-track snapshot of songs from a vast discography spanning more than 40 years – Gelb's first solo album dates back to 1983, with Giant Sand's debuted arriving 2 years later.

"Center of the Universe" is the sixth track to be released from Sandworms, following contributions from Water From Your Eyes, Lily Konigsberg, Jesca Hoop & John Parish, Whitney K, and Monde UFO.

Listen and pre-order over on Bandcamp.

Deradoorian's most recent album, Ready for Heaven, came out a month ago, also on Fire Records.
