Deerhoof announced their 20th studio album Noble and Godlike in Ruin, it will be available April 25 via Joyful Noise Recordings. The band decided to reveal the album's closing track via Craigslist - two days ahead of the song's release on streaming platforms.
This unconventional use of Craigslist serves to highlight a major platform that isn't blatantly supporting fascism.
Noble and Godlike in Ruin is a follow-up to the band's 2023 album, Miracle-Level and features Saul Williams on the track "Under Rats."
Deerhoof took to Instagram to tease an impending announcement via Craigslist. Attached to this post is an image showing a series of the word "deerhoof" repeated over and over again under various categories.
Following this teaser, the band took to Craigslist today with various posts in the 'Services' category, advertising themselves in their local communities, including Brooklyn, Tucson, Portland, and Minneapolis.

Attached to the images on the ads are a link and a password telling readers how to listen to the final track on the new album titled "Immigrant Songs," alongside photos of the album's artwork. Here is what Greg Saunier, drummer of Deerhoof, had to say about the track.
“This song is kind of a sequel to Satomi describing her immigration tribulations in ‘Exit Only.’ It's what it feels like to see the discourse around immigration get so twisted. The most criminal and barbaric 'migrant horde' to invade America was from Europe. There's a sector of racialized, underpaid immigrants, doing labor white people won't, who are getting deported and dehumanized in record numbers in recent years. They are really the glue keeping our society from collapsing. It's these heroic fugitives, not millionaire politicians holding little signs with one hand while sending out fundraising emails about 'strengthening our borders' with the other, who actually have a thing or two to teach us all about how to resist and survive.”
The Craigslist ads feature:
Ed as a scientist with 31 years experience who can perform experiments.
Greg as a driver with 31 years experience who will drive anyone to your party.
John as a pastry chef with 31 years experience who can bake sweets for your party.
Satomi as a singer with 31 years experience who will sing at your party.
Deerhoof also announced more headlining shows across U.S. and Canada as part of their 2025 tour. The tour begins in Minneapolis on May 1. They will also be headlining shows across Europe and the U.K.
