Daughter of Swords announces new album 'Alex' and shares first single

Singer-songwriter Daughter of Swords (aka Alex Sauser-Monnig) has announced her sophomore LP, Alex. The follow-up to debut album Dawnbreaker from 2019, Alex will release April 11 via Psychic Hotline.

With this news comes first official single, "Talk to You", which comes with a video directed by Sylvan Esso's Amelia Meath. Watch/listen below:

Meath and Sauser-Monnig have a long musical history together. The two released their debut album as singing duo The A's, Fruit, back in 2022. Beyond that, they are also 2/3 of the folk trio Mountain Man (along with Molly Sarlé). Mountain Man has released two albums – 2010's Made the Harbor and 2018's Magic Ship – and are known for their barebones folk instrumentation, tight harmonies, and occasional a'capella singing.

Alex was recorded at Betty's – Sylvan Esso's studio in North Carolina – and features contributions from several of Sauser-Monnig's closest collaborators and Psychic Hotline labelmates, such as Meath, Jenn Wasner (Wye Oak, Flock of Dimes), Nick Sanborn (Sylvan Esso, Made of Oak), TJ Maiani (Weyes Blood, Neneh Cherry), and Caleb Wright (Hippo Campus, Samia).

The album also features previously-shared song "Alone Together".
