UK producer Daniel Avery has announced his newest album, Tremor, due for release on October 31 via Domino.
He also released the single "Rapture in Blue", which features vocalist Cecile Believe. You can listen to the track below:
Tremor is Avery's first album since 2022's Ultra Truth, though he's been productive over the past few years. In 2023, he released an EP, More Truth, that featured bonus tracks, B-sides, and songs that weren't finished in time for Ultra Truth. He remixed "Drone:NoDrone" for The Cure's Mixes of a Lost World, the remix album of Songs of a Lost World that also featured contributions from Four Tet, Mura Masa, Mogwai, Chino Moreno, The Twilight Sad, and more.
The producer describes Tremor as such:
"This is a living and breathing collective. Since the earliest recordings, Tremor felt like a studio in the sky, a space in time through which we could all pass as artists. It’s the welcoming spirit of acid house with the doors flung open wider still to allow in every influence from my musical journey: the warmth of distortion, the stillness inside intensity, the transcendental beauty of noise... They have always been there in my music but now it feels like those ideas are being transmitted in Technicolor. This is a record for the post-rave comedown kids, the guitar heads and anyone else who wants to come along for the ride. Everyone is welcome."
Avery has assembled an impressive roster of collaborators for Tremor beyond Cecile Believe. It includes Ride and Oasis guitarist Andy Bell, Alison Mosshart, yeule, and bdrmm.
