The Dandy Warhols debut AI-driven video, announce east coast tour

Following up their twelfth-studio album ROCKMAKER and a sold-out 30th anniversary tour, The Dandy Warhols are once again hitting the road for several more live shows along the US East Coast. The nine-stop tour kicks off in Asbury Park, NJ, and will take them through Washington DC, Pennsylvania, wrapping up at NYC’s Mercury Lounge in May.

The Portland alt-rock staples have also released a new video for their track "Love Thyself", off of their latest record. The video utilizes generative AI to compile moments from across the band's career into a single, surreal tribute to their previous visual works. Singer Courtney Taylor-Taylor positively described the production as capturing "the sound of four glue sniffers from Queens" – huff at your own risk, right here:

Since the mid-1990s, the Dandy Warhol's have continued shifting up their sound, with their latest outing exploring a more post-punk vein. ROCKMAKER sprang forth from the band's interest in a uniquely-heavy sound, with Taylor-Taylor explaining, "ROCKMAKER is the manifestation of our desire to hear a record of heavy raw punk and metal guitar riffs, but has its own alley.”

Having tried out shoegaze, powerpop, and synth-disco, The Dandy Warhols have often embraced sounds and genres from across the music landscape. With ROCKMAKER, the band played homage to the heavier sounds of classic Detroit rock and punk acts, including the MC5 and The Stooges, while still finding room for a variety of collaborators. Their 2024 release alone featured Pixies frontman Frank Black, Guns n' Roses guitarist Slash, and Blondie singer Debbie Harry.
