Cross Record gets scary with autotune on new single "God Fax"

UK based singer-songwriter and death doula Emily Cross – AKA Cross Record -- just released "God Fax", a new single from her album Crush Me out March 21 on Ba Da Bing! Records.

Check out the music video for "God Fax" below:

The new single is a stark juxtaposition from the last single "Charred Grass". The latter was a moody song with hushed vocals over hazy instrumentation. "God Fax" is much grittier than its predecessor and uses autotuned vocals that create a sense of tension and unease.

Cross explains how the idea for the song came to be:

"I was asked to breathe in and out (kind of gasping) rhythmically and with different pitches until I almost passed out. I showed it to one of my friends when the rough version was done and he seemed scared of it, which to me was a positive sign."

You can pre-order Crush Me on Cross Record's Bandcamp.
