Composer Lalo Schifrin has died at age 93

Lalo Schifrin, a film and television composer on the level of Mancini and Morricone, passed away at the age of 93 on June 26th.

While Schifrin composed music for everything from Bullitt to the Mannix television series, he's known best for creating the Mission: Impossible theme, which revolves around the Morse code for the letters "M" and "I."

Schifrin hailed from Argentina, before coming to the United States after jazz musician Dizzy Gillespie hired him as his arranger. Subsequently, Schifrin began his career in Hollywood, working on everything from Dirty Harry to Bruce Lee's Enter the Dragon.
