After more than three decades together, Collective Soul are trying something a little different. The band will release their new album Touch and Go on April 18 as part of Record Store Day, and it’ll only be available at independent record stores. At least for now, there’s no word on a wider release, so if you want to hear it, you’ll have to go the vinyl route.
The album features 10 tracks and comes pressed on 180-gram colored vinyl, along with a 12”x24” poster. It’s clearly aimed at fans who still enjoy the experience of actually buying a record, not just streaming it.

Musically, Touch and Go leans in a different direction than what fans might expect. While Collective Soul built their name on alternative rock and post-grunge, this record pulls influence from The Cars and has more of a new wave feel, cleaner, more melodic, and a bit more polished overall.
Frontman Ed Roland kept it simple when talking about the album, saying the band is excited for people to hear it and noting its new wave sound, while also thanking fans for their continued support.
