Experimental composer, singer, producer, and songwriter claire rousay is back with a brand new record. a little death – the followup to her 2024 solo album sentiment and collaborative 2025 LP No Floor with More Eaze – is out October 31 via Thrill Jockey.
With the news comes first single "just", featuring m. sage on woodwinds, keys, and piano. Listen below:
a little death is purportedly a final entry in a trilogy of records that includes rousay's a heavenly touch and a softer focus, both from 2020. It returns more heavily to the "found sound" nature of her work that she centralized on those efforts, though here they are more intertwined with live instrumentation and additional voices.
Of the new album, rousay says:
"'sentiment' was a different way of working that helped refresh my music making habits and usual flow. This record is a return to what I see as my core solo practice, a re-dedication to those methods of working which I’ve found most align with what I envision my music or sound to be.”
rousay also has a tour lined up in support of a little death, including two release shows – one in LA and on in NY, which will act as the inaugural live show for the new Powerhouse International Festival. There are also two dates where rousay will perform and screen her project The Bloody Lady from November of last year. Find all her dates down below.
