There’s something fitting about CHVRCHES closing the loop on a chaotic season of Tell Me Lies with a song as emotionally loaded as “Such Great Heights”. For the show’s season three finale, the band have unveiled their take on the beloved The Postal Service classic.

It’s not their first contribution to the series, however. Back in January, the trio kicked off the season by reworking Robert Palmer’s “Addicted to Love”, effectively soundtracking both the beginning and the end of the show’s latest season.
Frontwoman Lauren Mayberry reflected on the experience, calling it a rare full-circle moment. Helping frame the emotional extremes of the season, from its messiest highs to its inevitable heartbreak, was, in her words, both surreal and deeply rewarding.
Taking on “Such Great Heights”, however, came with its own weight. Mayberry described it as “basically a perfect song,” admitting the band felt equal parts excitement and intimidation stepping into something so cherished. It’s easy to understand why, the original remains a cornerstone of early-2000s indie electronic, and a defining release for The Postal Service.
Mayberry initially spent time on the road with the band in 2023, opening during their co-headlining run with Death Cab for Cutie.

Season three of Tell Me Lies now streaming on Hulu. CHVRCHES are currently at work on new material, set to follow up their 2021 album, Screen Violence.
