Following last month’s release of “After Hours”, Christian Lee Hutson has shared a second single from his upcoming solo album.

“Beauty School”, which features Katy Kirby on backing vocals, is the final track on Paradise Pop. 10, which arrives on 27 September via Anti- Records. The album also features guest vocals from Maya Hawke and Phoebe Bridgers, who co-produced the album together with Marshall Vore and Joseph Lorge.

In a press release, Hutson describes the track as "a love song to myself and to you. To all the people we’ve been and to all the people we will be.”

Although the album’s title is inspired by a “quiet and peaceful” town in Indiana that he would visit as a child, Paradise Pop. 10 benefits from the energy and aliveness of New York City, which Hutson now calls home. In the chorus of the pop-punk tinged “Beauty School”, Hutson sings “In a mirror universe / Time is moving in reverse / I’m gonna turn my life around / Everything is different now.”

Describing how he wanted to make “an eyes up record” with the benefit of his new outlook, Hutson says in the album bio:

“Sometimes when you live somewhere for a really long time, the place starts to feel like a memory graveyard. Every corner becomes kind of haunted in a way, kind of dragging you out of the present… My last two records were really about exploring the past and mapping a little “star tour” of memories. Spending so much time revisiting all these emotional landmarks ended up giving me the feeling that I was missing my life. Like it was passing me while I was looking the other way. It felt really connected to the city. I would spend half my life in the car, just completely on autopilot, reliving my life from the beginning on repeat every day.”

Hutson has previously announced two record release shows in the US: 26 September at the South Pasadena Masonic Lodge in LA, and 30 September at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn. He'll then head out on a European tour, starting 30 October in Oslo, Norway.
