Alfa Anderson, singer of Chic classics like "Good Times" and "Le Freak," has passed away at 78. Chic bandleader Nile Rodgers announced her death on social media Saturday, without disclosing a cause of death.
The former lead singer of the disco ensemble got her start backing up legends like Dionne Warwick before auditioning for Chic in 1977. Becoming co-lead singer one year later, Anderson sang on some of the band's biggest hits.
When Chic's initial run concluded in 1983, Anderson went on to sing in sessions for artists including Bryan Adams and Mick Jagger. She also toured around the world with Luther Vandross.
